Three Bristol entrepreneurs have donated £10,000 to a charitable fund they have set up to help care staff across the UK.

Prakash, Preyen and Shrien Dewani, of Shirehampton, have helped to create the Care Professionals Benevolent Fund – the country’s first fund to help ensure care professionals are helped when they can no longer work.

The trio – behind PSP Healthcare which operates seven nursing homes across the South West and Wales – will be among the founders of the Fund and will take an active part in its development.

Managing Director Preyen Dewani said he was inspired to take the leap into the benevolent sector after seeing the hardships faced by many carers after a lifetime spent in service.

“The success of PSP healthcare has been built on the dedication, skill and kindness of our care staff, who work tirelessly to deliver five-star care to elderly people and those with dementia. Yet across the country, care staff often find themselves in financial hardship after selflessly serving others for many years.

“The Benevolent Fund will help ease the burden on these carers and their families. My family and I are delighted to have the opportunity to make life easier for these everyday heroes.”
